Custom home remodeling in Grand Rapids

DON'T SETTLE FOR OUTDATED AND IMPRACTICAL

Whether it’s a new build or your long-term residence, you want to love every room of your home. But if you’re honest, parts of your space feel like a compromise.

Maybe instead of feeling high-end and modern, your kitchen leaves you feeling claustrophobic. Rather than a luxury retreat, your bathroom looks like a holdover from the 90s. And your master bedroom doesn’t reflect your tastes and aesthetic—its style keeps you up at night.

You don’t have to settle for a home that doesn’t work for you.

Whether you have another baby on the way or your kids have moved out to start their next chapter… Whether your needs have changed over the years or you never liked your home’s style to begin with… Whether you want to become the go-to place for family and friends or you want a haven where you can get away from it all…

We’ll help you love your home.

Quality craftsmanship.
Exceptional remodel experience.

You shouldn’t trust just anyone with your remodel. Some contractors make promises but don’t deliver. They rush the job, use cheap materials, and leave your entire home a mess just to work on one room.

At VADA Contracting, we think Grand Rapids deserves better. At our design build firm, we put your needs first from the start.

That means clear communication, cutting-edge technology, and stunning craftsmanship. We’ve created our entire custom home remodeling process to provide a stress-free experience. From initial estimate to project completion, your comfort and confidence are our priority.

Here's how we deliver:

1. Book a consultation

Show us your space, share your thoughts on budget and timeline, and together we’ll reimagine what’s possible.

2. Eliminate the question marks

Our team will generate a floor plan, blueprint, and full color 3D rendering of your redesigned space to make sure we share your vision. From there we make a detailed project proposal with costs, contingency planning, finish selections and more.

3. love your space

Sit back and watch as our team transforms your space into something you can love for years to come.

frequently asked questions

We manage the entire custom home remodel process from concept, through design, to completion. We bring together the collective talents of a licensed builder, a master carpenter, an architectural engineer, a 3D modeler, a degreed designer and a team of skilled craftsmen to provide an all-included remodel service.

It’s not in our nature to cut corners. We have a passion for what we do and with that comes a commitment to being thorough and accurate in our planning. Custom home remodeling projects are complex by nature and when you want them to go well it takes time. For smaller projects such as bathrooms our bidding can be within a month. Larger projects like home additions and major renovations can take a few months up to a year.

Of course! We specialize in helping you understand what is possible and what design would work best for your unique space. All we ask is for a few pictures of what you like to help us get started. From that we can put our design team to work and find a finish that works for you.

We have a lead carpenter who will guide the work at your home and manage our team of carpenters, tile setters, painters, drywallers, and trim carpenters. We also rely on our network of trusted subcontractors who are masters in their own right to help with everything from roofing and concrete work to plumbing, electrical and mechanical.

We spent years sifting through hundreds of subcontractors to find the ones who are as passionate about a smooth remodel process as we are. With that comes relationships that have lasted the test of time. We are always seeking new talent but we can’t leave the success of your custom remodel up to chance by using subs that we don’t know.

During the consultation and design phases much of our communication will be via virtual meetups and email. Once the project has begun you can expect regular communication in person with the lead carpenter and regular updates on progress via text message from Dominic.

Yes! We are fully licensed and insured in the State of Michigan.

For client change requests after the contract has been signed, we issue a change order that acts as a separate contract to manage the change and determine the impact it will have on timeline and costs. Payment for change orders is due prior to execution of the order. We do our very best to prevent this from happening as unexpected changes can have big effects on the flow of production.

NO! Not only do we not surprise you with hidden charges but we go so far as to plan for contingencies so no matter what might come up, we have already discussed it, made a plan, and have a budget set aside so that your custom home remodel doesn’t stop.

Your first payment is your down payment and is generally made via check. Subsequent draws can also be via check or money order and when requested ahead of time we can arrange for payment via credit card, PayPal, Cash App, and Venmo.

Yes, home remodeling generates a lot of dust. How you deal with that dust makes all the difference in the world. We use magnetized doorways and plastic zip walls to keep construction in the construction area. We also add surface protections throughout any area where work or foot traffic could potentially damage your belongings. When necessary we can provide air filtration when dust is likely or potentially hazardous.

We do offer financing to qualified clients through Acorn Finance from $1-$100K.

Depending on the size and location of your custom home remodel you may need to avoid some rooms but we have never had to move a client out for a project. When planned ahead of time we can keep certain areas of the remodel space minimally functional so that when we’re not working you have access to the areas you need like bathrooms and kitchens.
